Feeling dehydrated? You’re probably going to drink more water. Have a cold? You’re probably going to get some over the counter medicine and take it easy for a couple days. Or maybe you’re just hungover… well everybody has their own remedy for that.
But what if it were possible to alleviate these nuisances with the help of intravenous therapy? Yes, an IV drip.
Thrive IV, a locally owned and operated IV bar right here in Greater Lafayette (yes you read that correctly, an IV bar) is run by local emergency room nurses. Thrive IV specializes in dispersing vitamins, essential nutrients, and medications directly into the bloodstream, similar to what is done at hospitals.
The Russell Company spoke with Thrive IV owner, Sarah Kurtz, to learn more about the benefits Thrive IV provides its clients and how exactly it works.
What products and services does Thrive IV have to offer?
Our primary focus is on preventative care by building your immune system. We use the best proven intravenous ingredients to help enhance your performance, recovery, and enrich your everyday life. We get our supplies directly from the same trusted pharmacies as hospitals and clinics do, and work under the supervision of a medical director.
From the time someone walks in the door to the time they walk out the door, how does the process work?
We walk the client into their choice of a private room and ask what kind of service they are looking for while they look over the menu. After discussing their needs, we come up with the best IV blend for them and have them fill out a medical history form. After reviewing that information with them, we check their vital signs and mix their infusion into a sterile IV bag. We use a small needle to start the IV while they are watching TV on one of our heated massage recliners and start the infusion. The process takes anywhere from 30-90 minutes, depending on comfort. After the infusion is complete, they will feel the benefits for several days to weeks!
Why do you feel that Greater Lafayette will benefit from an IV bar?
With the COVID-19 pandemic and flu season, it is more important than ever that our immune system is performing optimally. Our bodies only absorb up to 60% of oral vitamins. Receiving 100% absorption of the vitamins proven to boost our immune system and keep us healthy, we can ultimately prevent getting sick in the first place. We don’t target any audience in particular, just those who want to take control of their health and prevent illness and some diseases. We can all make Greater Lafayette a healthier place to be!
Is this something you’d recommend for anyone and everyone?
Our services are great for just about anyone! From athletes, to working professionals, to people with hangovers, we all benefit! However, we only offer our services to those age 18 and older. It is encouraged for everyone except those who have been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and/or fluid overload.
What is the pricing for your services?
Our intramuscular injections are priced from $25-$40 and our IV infusions range from $99-$185. The more ingredients added to an infusion, the higher the price. We also have some great discounts for a limited time. We accept HSA and FSA too!
What benefits does an individual receive from visiting an IV bar?
Benefits from IV therapy include increased absorption of fluids and nutrients, immediate results, a boost of energy, decreased side effects of vitamin intake, faster muscle recovery, enhanced mood, and most importantly increased immunity. Fun fact- 1L of IV fluids can provide you the equivalent of drinking two gallons of water!
Do you foresee more IV bars popping up in the future?
There are hundreds of IV bars across the United States, including several in Indianapolis and Chicago. As people are learning about the benefits of IV bars, we are seeing an increase in them around the country.
How do you define wellness?
I define wellness as the intentional act of giving your body the proper fuel it needs to perform at its best. That involves everything from the food we eat, the exercise we do, and even the type of people we spend time with and the things we read. The better that we treat our body now, the better our body will treat us in the future.
For someone who may be on the fence about trying out your services, how would you persuade them to give it a try?
Most IV bars were started by medical doctors that believe in the importance of IV therapy and vitamin infusions. All of them are run by healthcare professionals- doctors, nurses, and/or paramedics. They are just as safe as any hospital or doctor’s office. NFL athletes, celebrities like Brad Pitt, and famous musicians utilize IV therapy at their local IV bars. If you are hesitant to try it out because you have a fear of needles, we offer lidocaine numbing spray that can dull the feeling of the IV insertion. We also only use small needles. The 1 second of mild discomfort is worth the benefits we offer! Make your health a priority now so that chronic diseases don’t become your lifestyle.
How often should somebody pay a visit to Thrive IV?
Depending on which service you choose, we recommend visiting once a week to once every other week. for best, lasting results.
We also offer concierge visits for a fee, so if you don’t feel well enough to visit us, (or are too hungover to visit us) we will come to you! The fee is waived for parties of five or more. We also offer group discounts for bachelor/ette parties, Superbowl parties, etc. We hope to bring resources and education to everyone so they can live their lives without chronic diseases. If we help even one person, we will be satisfied!
