Let’s all be completely honest – with gyms and fitness studios being closed for a while and occupancy limits scaled back due to COVID-19, many of our normal workout routines were interrupted. And as a way to deal with life’s stressors, some of us may have slipped into more of a sedentary lifestyle and indulged in some comfort foods.
If you’ve kept your exercise schedule and diet in check, bravo to you!
But to be clear – the pandemic has been stressful for all of us in one way or another, and there’s no need to feel bad if you’ve fallen off the wagon a bit. It happens. But if you’re ready to get back on track as we head into the new year, we’ve got some advice from Emma Armour, the owner of Orangetheory Fitness – West Lafayette, on how you can get back into your groove.
How do you define wellness? Here at Orangetheory, we define wellness as ‘More Life.’ It’s not just about being physically fit, it’s about experiencing a better way of living. When you have more energy, more confidence, more strength, and more courage, you live more boldly. You have more fun. You laugh more. You experience more. And that’s the definition of more life.
What services does Orangetheory Fitness have to offer? Orangetheory offers a one-hour, full body workout, focused on training Endurance, Strength and/or Power. We use heart rate-based interval training, which burns more calories post workout than a traditional exercise. When wearing our heart rate monitors, your real time results are displayed on large screens throughout the studio. Intensity is based on your individual heart rate zones, making the workout effective for all fitness levels. To top it off, our fitness coaches to lead the workout to prevent you from over or under training.
How often should someone visit Orangetheory Fitness? This is dependent on the person, their current routine, and their personal fitness goals, but speaking generally, two to four classes per week is all you need to maximize your results at Orangetheory Fitness.
Do you have something to offer for everyone? Of course! Orangetheory is geared toward ALL levels of fitness and everyone is free and encouraged to go at their own pace. We recommend trying a free introductory workout, then discussing any thoughts or questions you may have regarding your fitness goals, with your coach.
What benefits does someone get from seeing you? The benefit of Orangetheory refers back to more life! You will improve cardiovascular endurance by steadily raising the heart rate, which helps with overall endurance, power and strength. Additionally, you will get a scalable workout, technology that holds you accountable, and a workout that is personal!
With so many people facing adversity (job loss, stress, homeschooling, etc.) how do your service help alleviate some of the problems people are dealing with? Now more than ever, we see the importance in health and wellness (both physical and mental wellness). Our classes offer pumping music, communal energy and an awesome workout to keep you both physically and mentally well! With the help of our medical advisory board, we have developed policy changes, cleaning and disinfecting protocols, coach re-education, and staff and member safety protocols to keep everyone safe during this global pandemic.
